1. What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your browser or device. They allow the site to remember preferences (such as your chosen language), keep you logged in between pages, measure how the site performs, and — with your consent — help us understand how our catalogue is used.
Similar technologies covered by this policy include HTML5 localStorage, pixel tags and browser fingerprinting signals. For simplicity we refer to all of them as "cookies".
2. Why We Use Cookies
ORVIDA is a professional B2B distribution platform. We use cookies and local storage only for purposes that support this use case:
- Keeping you logged in while you browse and check out.
- Remembering the products in your cart between sessions on the same browser.
- Remembering your language preference (English, Portuguese or Spanish).
- Protecting the site against fraud and automated abuse.
- Measuring, in aggregate, which catalogue pages are useful so we can improve structure and loading speed.
We do not use cookies to build behavioural advertising profiles and we do not share browsing data with ad networks.
3. Cookie Categories
Under the ePrivacy Directive and CNPD guidance, cookies fall into four categories. The table below explains our approach to each.
| Category | Purpose | Legal basis | Consent required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Session, cart, security, CSRF, load balancing. | Legitimate interest / contract performance. | No — cannot be disabled without breaking the site. |
| Functional | Remember language, accessibility preferences. | Legitimate interest (minimal intrusion) or consent. | Optional — loaded after first interaction. |
| Analytics | Measure aggregated page performance. | Consent. | Yes — only after you accept. |
| Marketing | Not currently used by ORVIDA. | Consent. | N/A — we do not run marketing cookies. |
4. Cookies We Set
The following items are set on orvida.eu at the time of publication. We will update this list as the site evolves.
| Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
orvida_session | orvida.eu (first-party) | Strictly necessary | Maintain login session and CSRF protection. | Session |
orvida-lang | orvida.eu (first-party localStorage) | Functional | Remember your language choice (EN/PT/ES). | Until cleared |
orvida_cart | orvida.eu (first-party localStorage) | Strictly necessary | Hold products added to cart between pages. | 30 days or until checkout |
orvida_consent | orvida.eu (first-party) | Strictly necessary | Record your cookie consent choices. | 12 months |
5. Third-Party Cookies
We use a small number of external services. They may set cookies on the pages where they are loaded.
- Google Fonts: delivers the Source Serif 4 and DM Sans web fonts. Google does not set advertising cookies on font requests, but it does receive your IP address as part of the HTTP request. See Google's privacy policy.
- Stripe (when payment is active): sets strictly necessary cookies for fraud prevention at checkout (
__stripe_mid,__stripe_sid). See Stripe's privacy policy. - Google Analytics / Meta Pixel / TikTok Pixel: not currently deployed. If we activate an analytics or marketing pixel in the future we will update this policy and request consent before loading it.
6. Managing Your Cookies
You can manage cookies in three ways:
- Our consent banner: the first time you visit orvida.eu you will be asked to accept, reject or customise non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time by opening the cookie preferences link in the footer.
- Your browser: all modern browsers allow you to review, block or delete cookies. Instructions: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
- Do Not Track: we honour the
DNTsignal where technically possible by not loading optional analytics cookies.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the site from functioning — for example, your cart will not persist between pages and you will not be able to complete checkout.
7. Consent
Your cookie consent choices are recorded in the orvida_consent cookie and apply to the browser on which you made the choice. Consent is valid for 12 months; after that we will ask again. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing the cookie or using the preferences link in the footer.
8. Updates to this Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy when we add, remove or change a cookie. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows the version in force. For material changes we will re-request consent.
